Weather & Climate studies

As part of their Science classes on weather and climate change, our Grades 5-8 students had the opportunity to visit the Meteorological Department at Chimoio Airport.

It is always exciting to visit to our local airport but this trip was a little different. Our students were lucky enough to see the weather equipment in use at the airport such as the Stevenson Screen, thermometers, barometers and much more! They were given demonstrations on how the equipment was used and why equipment was placed in different areas of the airport (to get the very best results!). They also got a taste of what it is like to be a weather forecaster at the airport when they got a tour of the Meteorological office.

This was another fantastic visit! We are always well looked after by the staff at Chimoio airport so a huge thank you to everyone involved for another successful day.

If you would like to learn more about the types of visits we do at Milton Junior School, visit our Away Days page. You can also get more information on our Enrichment Programmes here.
